Here's something that we can't do by ourselves at home, even if we have the best skincare routine: a good extraction facial that removes all the gunk that is congesting our pores. Clearing our pores of whiteheads and blackheads isn't just a great way at preventing the occurrence of acne, but is also what we need if we want brighter, more radiant-looking skin.
If you're looking for a good extraction facial to try, here are a few great ones that you can consider.

The Spa-Lon
Reviewer: Eli Alias
If you take a look at The Spa-Lon's Facebook page, you'd notice that it has very favourable reviews. Given 4.8 out of 5 stars among almost 40 reviewers, The Spa-Lon is clearly a salon that is well-loved by its customers. This is why I was excited to visit them.
Upon entry at The Spa-Lon, I was welcomed with warm greetings and directed to the consultation room. I was introduced to the Senior therapist, Irene. A skin analysis was conducted to measure my skin's moisture level, texture, elasticity, and exposure to UV light. I learnt that I have sensitive skin that is oily, especially around the cheeks and T-zone. My skin is prone to breakouts too.
Based on my skin's condition, Irene recommended the 90-minute Marine Breeze Pollution Shield with ATP-38 Lightwave treatment, an extraction facial that is suitable for unclogging pores and revitalising skin.
I was told that this treatment helps regulate sebum, brighten the appearance of complexion, deep cleanse, detoxify, and purify skin. The ATP-38 Lightwave treatment aids in collagen production and regulates melanin level, resulting in a more radiant-looking complexion.
The products used are from Phytomer, a brand that's backed by marine biotechnologies. For the last five decades, they have been creating high-quality products, using active ingredients that can be harvested responsibly from the sea.
After gentle cleansing, Irene applied the Phytomer Enzymatic Exfoliant all over my face. Unlike certain exfoliants that contain granules that can be harsh on skin, this uses enzymes to gently exfoliate skin, which was perfect for my sensitive skin. This step helped remove dead skin cells and refined skin texture for better absorption of treatment products.
The spa experience is further elevated when Irene placed the Back Rebalancing Self-Heating Mask under my back. This warms up the back muscles and has a detoxification effect. It felt divine and I'm sure you'll appreciate it most if you suffer from stiff back or back aches.
Irene continued by slathering the Pure Pore Heating Mask all over my face. Targeted to deep cleanse while absorbing toxins from skin, this heated mask dried down eventually and helped prep for the next step: extraction.
Extraction was focused mainly around my T-zone, where I suffered from blackheads and whiteheads. These were extracted meticulously and I did not feel any pain at all!
Subsequently, Irene applied the alcohol-free Eau Marine Lotion, Oligoforce Purifying Enforcement Serum, and Soufflé Marine Energizing Oxygenating Serum onto my skin. These were coupled with massages that were done with the right pressure. These steps help calm and relax skin while enhancing the efficacy of the facial.
Then, Irene prepared the equipment for the ATP-38 Lightwave Treatment, which was the star of the show. This device uses special 'cold lights' developed by NASA that does not generate any heat. Photo Stimulation (aka Phototherapy) is a non-aggressive treatment that exposes skin to different wavelengths of light, intensity, and pulsations based on your specific skin needs. The ATP-38 is unique because of its use of Photo Rejuvenation technology that helps align the LED lights produced for deeper penetration into the skin. In the long run, it is proven that this helps boost cellular activity as it helps skin repair itself better, which in turn improves skin condition.
For me, the Anti-Inflammatory and Deep Cell Repair option was chosen. A pair of goggles was put on me for eye protection during this entire process.
Finally the cooling Oligopur Mask was applied above a facial gauze to help soothe and hydrate skin while refining the pores. Hydrating Matte Cream and Sunblock were applied right at the end to complete the treatment.
Stepping out of the treatment room and back into the consultation room, I definitely noticed a difference in my skin. It looked brighter, smoother, and I was glad that despite it being an extraction facial, I didn't experience much redness. I left The Spa-Lon feeling rejuvenated and confident in my own skin!
The effects don't just show up instantly. Three days after the treatment, I noticed that the acne scars around my chin and jawline became less visible than before. Yes, this is certainly one of the best extraction facials around that you should try!

Indulgence Beauty
Reviewer: Sim Zhi Xin
Indulgence Beauty is located at a small and unassuming corner on the second level of International Plaza, just a five-minute walk from Tanjong Pagar MRT station.
When I first arrived, Anna, my therapist-for-the-day greeted me and ushered me into a room where I got my face cleansed in preparation for a skin analysis. Indulgence Beauty uses a computerised skin analysis machine from Korea that measures important elements such as moisture, sebum level and pigmentation to name a few. It even generates an image that shows where the blackheads reside in your pores!
After seeing my analysis results, Anna took time to explain what they mean and then conclude that an extraction facial and an after-treatment hydrating facial were what my skin needs (since I scored so highly on sebum level and so low on moisture).
Now this is the part which makes your money well spent: you get BOTH a facial consultation and a treatment that is specifically tailored to your skin condition. Furthermore, I was really grateful that Anna went the extra mile to understand my skincare routine and advised me accordingly.
The facial began with the application of an exfoliating scrub to soften the dead skin cells, followed by a steamer to open the pores and make them 'ripe' for extraction facial. I'm happy to say the steamer was extremely gentle on the skin – no burning sensation; just a gentle heat that will most definitely lull you to sleep.
Afterwards, Anna used her fingers for blackhead extraction. Compared to using the traditional metal extractor, this method is supposed to reduce skin-tearing and bruising. It was certainly less painful, although some pain is definitely expected.
To be honest, I was initially sceptical about this fingers-method because I didn't think it could extract as many blackheads as using a metal extractor but boy did a whole lot came out. In addition to her fingers, Anna also used a surgical needle to prick my skin which allows under-skin blackheads an avenue to come out. Despite this invasive procedure, it was pretty much painless.
As I have sensitive skin, the extraction left red, inflamed marks on my skin. However, Anna assured me that this was pretty unusual and from my own research, it really seems to be an unusual case as other clients do not have this issue.
I can only attribute the redness to my own sensitive skin and to infrequent extraction (since I rarely do extraction, even on my own). So for those who are first-timers, don't be alarmed if your skin gets red like mine – it soothed after a couple hours for me.
Anna also applied a Blemish Control Lotion immediately after the extraction followed by a hydrating gel, which helped to soothe the skin.
Then came my favourite part of the entire treatment – rolling jade balls on my face. It was like a mini facial massage and I could feel my muscles relaxing as the jade balls pushed the tension out. Imagine my disappointment when it ended all too soon. Usually a facial massage is done after this, but Anna recommended that I forgo it so that my face won't be over-stimulated.
Finally, the treatment concluded with a hydrating mask that cooled my angry skin and reduced the redness.
While I experience some pain and redness, overall, I was still very happy with the outcome. My skin was smoother, especially on my nose area. I could definitely feel the difference each time I wash my face.
The huge under-skin blackhead on my cheek that had been bugging me was also removed, making my cheek nice and smooth again. My skin was also brighter than before even a few days after the facial – an added bonus!

Face Shower Bar
Reviewer: Grace Ang
Face Shower Bar is the first "dry bar of facials" in Singapore that offers fast, customised, affordable facials for modern women who have little time to maintain a healthy skincare routine. They billed itself as the new facial bar that give you the clearest skin of your life in 30 minutes flat.
I found out that Face Shower Bar was opened by Ikeda Spa, a very reputable Japanese spa brand, and furthermore, I had never heard of a 'facial dry bar' before, so I was very excited to see what was in it for me.
Face Shower Bar, opened by Ikeda Spa, is located at CityLink Mall, only about 5 minutes' walk away from City Hall MRT towards Marina Square exit. It's just a few units down from Sushi Express, and trust me when I say that you won't miss it!
As the first facial dry bar in Singapore, they advocate a fuss-free experience, so customers are attended to on a first-come-first-serve basis. This means you don't have to worry about planning your facials ahead, simply walk in whenever you feel like you need a quick pick-me-up!
When you get there, the first thing you should do is get a queue number at their ticket kiosks. After that, you can either proceed to the dressing table to remove your makeup in preparation for your facial, or simply kick back and relax in their lounge area.
Face Shower Bar's signature facial is called the Quick Shower Facial and it includes a customised exfoliation process using hydra-dermabrasion (which is usually an expensive add-on in other facial places). Face Shower Bar is offering this facial at a great price of S$48 for first-timers (usual price S$90)! You can also opt for other add-ons like their Quick Shower Boosters, which includes the latest trending modelling mask to RF V Contour Lift, with prices ranging from S$40 to S$70.
Using an iPad, I answered 10 questions which were similar to what a dermatologist would ask during an in-person visit. In fact, they were written with help by an expert real dermatologist.
The questions allowed my beauty advisor Elaine to make very specific customisation to my facial to address my skin concerns. Elaine then gave me a quick rundown on the steps that I'd be undergoing and why this was suitable for my skin concerns.
Elaine used the hydra-dermabrasion machine on my face, along with a set of three patented skin solutions called DermaSOS. Each solution have different functions:
- DermaSoften-1: It first dissolves impurities and soften dead skin cells with a gentle vortex liquid wash.
- DermaOpen-2: It then opens up the pores and unclog blackheads with painless suction.
- DermaSoothe-3: Soothes irritated skin and revives dry, dehydrated patches with a cocktail of calming solution through vortex infusion.
My skin was first cleansed, just to make sure that all the makeup residue on my face had been removed. She then followed with a really soothing lymphatic face massage which I enjoyed a lot.
Next, the hydra-dermabrasion machine was used to thoroughly cleanse and exfoliate the skin. This step is similar to an extraction, but instead of manually picking out gunk, it uses technology to do so. It removes dead skin and blackheads too! Do not be alarmed if your skin looks red at first; the redness subsides very quickly with the help of a soothing lotion which is later massaged into the skin.
The fourth and optional step was the Quick Shower Boosters. I have combination skin, and clusters of acne that are still active, so I opted for the Charcoal Modelling Mask for its purifying and balancing effects.
"I always tell my clients this isn't a quick fix", Elaine warned me. "We're giving your skin a really deep, professional clean. We're getting rid of makeup residue, dirt buildup from pollution, dead-skin cells, and letting your skin rejuvenate at a much faster level, but it's not a one time thing."
As she explained it, one treatment is basically like washing a week's worth of buildup. It will make your skin look better, but it won't be a permanent solution.
"You can't go to the gym once and expect to lose weight in one session," she said. "This is the same thing."
The Quick Facial Shower facials are gentle enough that you could do it as frequently as every other day. At S$48, you could do four sessions of the Quick Shower Facial for the price of one regular facial too! I was so excited to know that busy, working adults had an option like this now in Singapore.
Busy, working adults looking for a quick "perk-me-up" will definitely be pleased at how seamless and efficient the service is at Face Shower Bar. They work efficiently, and without compromising on the quality of the facial experience.
For returning customers, you only need your mobile number to access your facial and skin improvement track records via tablets in stores or on their website. This will greatly assist in speeding up the facial process, so you can really just pop in and out to get a once-over!
After the treatment, my skin looked and felt good enough for me to head back to work. It was not too red, and I noticed that it had a nice glow to it. One thing's for sure, it was totally painless and I did not experience any downtime. Moreover, Face Shower Bar gave me a great opportunity to catch up on some sleep while getting my facial done.
For a relatively short 45-minute affair, my skin was feeling much smoother and cleaner after the treatment. I would definitely be willing to sacrifice my lunch break for this quickie facial once a month!
Face Shower Bar is running a special promo + free mask now!
Perk has ended

The Face Place
Reviewer: Kelly Ang
Stepping into The Face Place, I was greeted by the beautiful view of the Singapore River from the 12th floor. The spa was drenched with natural sunlight, which made me feel lighthearted and free upon stepping in!
It has been described as a private loft retreat in the heart of the CBD, and I was really looking forward to a relaxing session with all the benefits of a skillfully delivered facial massage.
My beauty therapist for the session welcomed me with so much warmth, I was pretty sure she was smiling behind her mask. The loft is private and allows a maximum of only three people to be there at any point in time.
Considering that we live in a time of COVID-19, the donning of a mask by the therapist and the assurance that at any one point in time, only three people including myself will be within the same space are certainly welcoming sights.
I was offered a steaming hot drink that eased me into the treatment.
After changing out of my clothes, I traipsed up the stairs to the loft-style spa and lay down, all ready to sink into the bed and let my therapist massage my cares and lines away with her speciality gua sha and bojin techniques.
She patiently explained every step of my treatment to me, meticulously listing out each step she was going to perform so I can understand what I would be going through.
What makes it one of the best brightening facials
I tried the Ritual Face Spa, which promises to help drain the fluids from my face, leaving a noticeably slimmer and brighter face. The highlights of the treatment were the gua sha and bojin facial massage, as well as the high-frequency treatment and RF therapy.
As my face was prepped with a double cleanse and exfoliation with a pomegranate rose scrub to remove the top level of dead skin cells, my therapist analysed my skin and determined that I had some fine lines under my eyes and a massive blackhead infestation on my nose.
She also astutely deduced that I tend to hold my shoulders tight, which explains the lines on my neck and shoulders. Wow.
A steam extraction with a Vitamin A and Vitamin D emollient was done to open up the pores and remove all the dirt from my face.
I'm not going to sugarcoat it, blackhead extractions are my least favourite part of every facial. But, in the name of beauty, I have always been willing to go through with it.
The therapist did a fabulous job with the extraction, taking care to gently yet thoroughly extract all my blackheads and zits bar none.
I especially have to mention that I had a problematic zit that had been there for more than a week, and Sandra was very careful in helping me extract the gunk from inside.
She then moved on to do a rose clay mask to absorb the impurities and brighten my complexion. It felt SO GOOD – wonderfully soothing and beautifully scented, it was just the thing my face needed after the rigour of the extraction!
Up next was a high-frequency wand treatment, to help treat and prevent stubborn acne, shrink enlarged pores, reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, de-congest puffy eyes, and lighten dark eye circles.
It was slightly tingly due to the mild electric current being discharged onto my skin, but I was quite unperturbed.
I was then treated to a soothing peppermint and chamomile rubber mask, which reduces inflammation and hydrates the skin.
While the mask was drying, the therapist gave me a gentle lymphatic drainage massage on the neck and shoulders, which she said would help flush out toxins. She said that I could even do it at home and I've been doing it nightly since then myself.
To further hydrate and brighten my face, a pressurised oxygen jet was used to disperse hyaluronic serum and rose hydrosol all over my face. It felt cool and soothing, and at this point I was ready to doze off!
I didn't though, because the next step of this wonderfully pampering treatment was something I had been eagerly waiting for since the start of the session: the gua sha and bojin massage.
Now, I am a HUGE fan of gua sha on my back; I particularly love this Traditional Chinese Medicine practice for its ability to relieve muscular and nerve aches and pains on my back.
The therapist explained that the gua sha and bojin she performs on my face will not leave those distinctive deep plum marks we typically see at TCM treatments on the body – to my relief.
It would be more akin to gentle strokes, to unblock passages of the meridian points and drain lymph nodes of their toxins.
Wielding a pretty rose quartz gua sha tool, my therapist got right to work performing the gua sha, explaining what she was doing as she gently felt for any tell-tale knots which would signify a lymph node that needed draining.
She then deftly massaged my eye area using the bojin technique, which she explained would help promote lymphatic circulation under my eyes. This would help reduce my dark eye circles, puffiness, and fine undereye lines. Bojin was also done to my neck and shoulders, to gently drain the lymph nodes there.
By this time, I'd been lying on the bed for almost two hours but it honestly didn't feel that 120 minutes had passed – I was really enjoying the treatment!
However, the next step – the Microcurrent treatment – jolted me right out of my semi-drowsy state.
It felt like little ant bites on my face, which Sandra helped to calibrate so that the stinging would be at a comfortable level for me. This step uses low-voltage electricity to stimulate cell and collagen redevelopment on the face, as well as tighten facial muscles.
To end the session off, my therapist performed a cryo-electorporation treatment to cool my skin down to approximately 15 degrees Celsius, to help further minimise pores and inflammation.
This felt like the perfect touch at this stage, after coming out from the Microcurrent treatment. Sunblock and a luxurious-feeling lip mask were also excellent final touches.
Did I love the treatment? It's a resounding YES.
Result of brightening facial at The Face Place
My face felt noticeably lighter and slimmer right after the session, albeit with the popped zit at the nose. Upon closer inspection, the fine lines under my eyes seem to have gone away, even! Of course, my nose was squeaky clean with the eradication of the blackheads.
About one week on, my face still feels bouncy and hydrated and guys, the zit is gone now! The fine lines are still markedly reduced and my face is still slimmer (my husband keeps asking me if I've lost weight!)
I'll be back for more gua sha and bojin, as well as the high-frequency light therapy treatment which really made my skin look radiant and feel younger almost immediately.
Consider me a fan of this treatment!

Porcelain
Improper extraction techniques can cause scarring and other undesirable outcomes, which is why Porcelain prides itself on the fact that extraction facials are only performed by therapists who have honed their skills over a compulsory six-month training period. Each therapist is personally trained by Porcelain's co-founder, Jenny Teng, to ensure they are using the right angle, technique and pressure in order to reduce scarring.
I heard that Quintessential Facial Treatment is Porcelain's signature, award-winning bespoke extraction facial that is designed for severely congested and acne-prone skin. Many people have raved about getting brighter skin with reduced acne and less congested pores, so I was curious to see how well it would work for me.
The interior of the place made a very good impression on me – it looked very professional, without losing any of the comfortable elements that would put customers at ease.
Before proceeding with the facial treatment, a thorough skin assessment was carried out in a consultation room so that my therapist could better understand my current skin condition and needs. This was the most detailed analysis that I have undergone at any facial place, and I was quite shocked that they could even pick out all the clogged pores and bacterial acne that I myself had never noticed before!
After identifying my skin type (combination-oily) and current issues (clogged pores, dehydration, and bacterial acne), I was ushered into the treatment room to carry out the Quintessential facial.
My skin was first double-cleansed and exfoliated – I was told that this would allow the full benefit of the treatment to penetrate the deeper layers of skin to restore skin's equilibrium.
The next step was the full-face extraction to de-congest and clear clogged pores. This step took up the bulk of the treatment, where my therapist spent time carefully picking out the gunk and pus from my pores and existing acne spots.
The extraction was far from painless – in fact, I would honestly say that this was one of the most intense extractions that I have ever experienced. However, the truth is that a painless extraction does not necessarily mean that it is good, as it could just mean that the therapist only did a superficial extraction that did not clear all the gunk from your pores.
Hence, even though the extraction process was very painful, I was quite impressed because it showed that Porcelain indeed focused on deep cleansing.
I could tell that my therapist did not miss a single clogged pore on my face, and I could see that my pores were absolutely clean by the end of the treatment – something I had not seen from my previous extraction experiences!
Porcelain's extraction was definitely much more thorough in comparison to other facial places that did only the bare minimum, which is also why this extraction step is also much lengthier in comparison (about an hour).
Depending on your skin type, a custom-blended mask is then concocted and applied at the end of the treatment to target specific concerns of each individual. After this step, the therapist will end off by applying a moisturiser and sunscreen (you can opt not to have this step).
Before I went for this facial treatment, I struggled quite a bit with clogged pores, blackheads, acne, and some acne marks, mostly due to the fact that I had just returned from a harsh winter climate.
Although my skin did look quite red and bumpy right after the Quintessential Facial Treatment, my therapist actually gave me very good advice on how to speed up the recovery process (avoiding seafood for a few days), as well as skincare tips for my blemished skin (using products with lower SPF because they are less oily, making sure I stay hydrated). I was also given a complimentary Porcelain's Soothe Aloe Vera Gel to apply on my face religiously over the next couple of days, which definitely helped to calm those red patches much faster than I initially feared!
I started seeing a much brighter skin tone the day after, while the clear and smooth skin came about four to five days later. I was really surprised to see that my skin already looked so much better after just one facial session! I've also never received so many compliments on my skin after a facial treatment before – even my family and friends were impressed because they have never seen me with such good skin before.
This facial treatment requires a certain level of pain tolerance in order to see the extraction through, as well as some patience (and diligent effort!), but I promise that you'll definitely be extremely satisfied with your upcoming good skin days.
Note: After the extraction is completed, you may also be recommended to follow up with other treatments in order to make sure that your skin recovers well. Due to the fact that I had very clogged pores and bacterial acne, I followed up with an Intense Pulse Light (IPL) and Sun Rescue Facial Treatment – the former helped to sanitise my skin with LED therapy, while the latter soothed my dehydrated skin with a combination of oxygen and cryo therapies.
The facial is currently priced at S$425.86 (as of 18 May 2020), with an extra 15-minute treatment that includes either additional extraction time or equipment facial.

Skin Paradise
Reviewer: Aimee
Skin Paradise is a relatively new player among aesthetic salons in Singapore, which might explain why there aren't many reviews on their Facebook page yet (although all five reviewers gave them a 5-star rating!). However, their original location in Johor Bahru has been around since 2003 attracting many loyal customers from both Malaysia and Singapore.
They are located on East Coast Road, a bit further away from the downtown area. However, that's what gives the salon a quiet, peaceful feel even before you step foot inside, which you don't really get with salons that are more centrally located.
Before the facial started, Michelle, my therapist for the day, analysed my skin to identify my skin type and skin concerns. As my skin is oily with a dry surface, Michelle recommended the Vanadium Titanium Microcrystalline treatment (VT treatment, in short) as it would help with hydrating and repairing my skin barrier so it could absorb and retain moisture better.
The treatment started with a double cleanse to remove all dirt and makeup residue from my face, followed by a bubble mask to cleanse my pores. I could feel a mild tingling sensation on my face as the tiny bubbles expanded and popped, which was actually quite fun.
After the bubble mask came the extraction. Michelle told me that all facials at Skin Paradise comes with an extraction as they believe that only when your pores are clear can the skin absorb the products and the treatments be effective.
I told Michelle that this was my first time doing extraction, so she used a lighter hand at first to let me get used to the pain before slowly increasing the intensity. It was, as everyone else had warned me, indeed painful. However, when Michelle passed me the mirror to have a closer look at my pores, I could tell that they were a lot less congested and my skin had never felt so smooth.
Next was the main part of the facial, the Vanadium Titanium Microcrystalline treatment. The name of the treatment comes from the device used: a needle-free injection instrument that uses magnetic energy to directly inject skincare products into the basal layer of the skin – the innermost layer of the epidermis. This allows nutrients and active ingredients to penetrate deeply into the skin and nourish it from within.
According to Michelle, the Vanadium Titanium Microcrystalline device will help improve the skin's metabolism, which boosts cell renewal for brighter and firmer skin. It can also replenish moisture in the skin to plump up areas such as the cheeks.
As there are no needles involved, there was no bleeding or trauma caused to the skin. I didn't feel anything as Michelle ran the instrument over my face twice, with two different serums.
The two serums used were customised depending on the customer's skin needs. The ones used on me were packed with active ingredients such as anti-ageing Portulaca Oleracea Extract to fight against free radical damage, anti-inflammatory Taurine to soothe the skin, Nicotinamide – a form of vitamin B3 – to repair the skin's barrier, and inhibit melanin production, and Sodium Hyaluronic to deeply hydration the skin.
The treatment ends with a peptide mask to seal off all the nutrients in the skin and provide the last boost of moisture and hydration.
I was also given two bottles of the two serums used during the Vanadium Titanium Microcrystalline treatment to use at home so that my skin can continues to be nourished even after the facial.
After the treatment, I was worried that my skin would be red and I wouldn't be able to go out, but the redness wasn't actually too noticeable. I also found that there was a glow to my skin and it felt more plump and well-moisturised.
Most of the redness and red marks from the extraction were gone the next day and I loved how smooth and plumped up my skin felt. I would definitely come back for future sessions!

Ceramique Aesthetics
Reviewer: Franchesca
Who knew there'd be a tranquil haven right in the middle of town?
Located in the bustling heart of Orchard lies a quaint and minimalist salon that welcomes you with such warmth and calm. Ceramique Aesthetics is a specialist salon that provides tailor-made skin treatments, on top of hair removal sessions and body therapy. They also have another branch in Chinatown.
Ceramique Aesthetics promises their customers a relaxing experience and instantly glowing, radiant skin. And let me tell you, that's just what I got!
I went in for the Anti-Imperfect Extraction Facial, which treats acne, blackheads, clogged pores and skin inflammation. The entire session lasted for approximately 90 minutes but can vary depending on the extraction process.
The session left me feeling rejuvenated and fresh. While 120 minutes seem like a long time, that time just passes by once you start your session. You'll definitely wish it was longer; I know I did.
My session started with an in-depth consultation with the consultant. She gave me a quick skin assessment and meticulously explained the treatment and its steps. She walked me through what each step was meant to do and what products would be used. Unlike many other facial treatments out there, Ceramique uses organic products from France, a brand that specialises in organic skincare. So, you can rest assured knowing that there aren't any harmful chemicals touching your skin.
After the consultation, it was time to finally start the facial. It began with a lymphatic face and shoulder massage that will relax your body and mind. In an instant, you'll be transported into a calm space and forget that you're right in the middle of bustling Orchard.
Next came a double cleanse that cleansed away impurities while still leaving your skin supple and soft. This was followed by a balancing solution which purified my skin and helped reduced any inflammation.
After that, it was time to exfoliate. If you have sensitive skin like me, exfoliating can be quite daunting, but as I mentioned earlier, Ceramique uses organic products for this Anti-Imperfect Extraction Facial. On top of that, their beauticians are all highly trained and have years of experience in treating an array of skin conditions. So, even with the potential harshness of exfoliating, my skin still felt healthy and clean.
Then, came the 'hard' part. If you have ever had an extraction facial before, you know that it can be very far from relaxing. It can hurt and even make you shed a tear or two. But at Ceramique, they use a new extraction technique which is much more detailed than traditional extraction processes. It was a lot less painful than any other extraction I'd had before. Beyond that, my beautician also made sure to slow her pace whenever I felt any sort of pain.
After the extraction, it was time for an antiseptic application which purified and cleansed the skin. It also helped stimulate the skin to protect from any future spots and pimples. There was a slight tingling sensation during this step, but it wasn't too bad to handle.
Next came another lymphatic massage, followed by a mask, which helped control sebum production, as well as lock in all the goodness from the previous steps.
Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end, and my facial treatment was finished off with a hydrating cream that kept sebum at bay. The cream was rich in essential oils which helped refine and tighten pores and smooth skin texture.
After the treatment, I instantly noticed how radiant my skin looked. My skin looked brighter, more supple and less oily. I even noticed that a lot of my acne pigmentation had lightened. Also, usually after an extraction facial, I would expect my skin to look red, but this time it wasn't. It was all probably due to Ceramique's unique extraction technique.
To continue the amazing effects of my treatment, I was given a few product testers to try at home. Over the next few days, I definitely noticed my skin looking brighter and a lot healthier. I also had no new breakouts, which was truly impressive.
The whole experience was absolutely fantastic, from the top-notch service to the immaculate décor. And of course, the facial. It's just what you need if you're looking to give your skin some TLC.
Get the first trial of the Anti-Imperfect Extraction Facial at S$98 (U.P. S$288). For more information on all of their services, visit Ceramique Aesthetics' website or Facebook page.
