My beauty routines before and during the Circuit Breaker are vastly different. Besides wearing less makeup now, I find that I spend a little more time in skincare.

Makeup wipes were never a huge part of my routine in the past. Because I wear makeup for work, when I get home, I make sure I remove everything properly with a cleansing oil. I usually only use makeup wipes when I need to do quick removals between scenes when I'm filming for work or if I find it too cumbersome to bring along makeup removers when I head to the gym.
So here's where it gets peculiar: I actually use more makeup wipes now than before. Read on to find out why and also why you may want to consider doing the same too.
1. I use makeup wipes to remove sunscreen
Compared to before Circuit Breaker, I find that I'm more conscientious with sunscreen application. Besides applying it all over my face in the morning before work, I reapply another twice in the day – usually at around 12 noon, and then again at around 4pm.
Note: You should wear a sunscreen even though you're working from home. This is because UVA rays (the ones that are responsible for causing skin damage and accelerate skin ageing) are able to penetrate through your windows and affect your skin.
Without a full face of makeup, it feels a little excessive to do an intensive cleansing process with my regular makeup remover. In this occasion, a makeup wipe feels like the perfect way to ensure that I get rid of sunscreen residue, as well as any impurities and grime I may have on my skin.
Note again: Sunscreen has to be removed with a makeup remover. A normal cleanser won't cut it and you may notice pimples appearing if sunscreen is not removed thoroughly.
2. I use makeup wipes to remove masks
I mask more often now that I spend more time at home. Leave-on masks, especially clay masks, can be quite cumbersome to remove, and I sometimes end up spending a lot of time at the basin trying to get everything off.
One day I found out that makeup wipes are perfect for removing leave-on masks, yes, even clay masks, gently and thoroughly. It's so much more convenient and a total time-saver, I've never looked back since.
I know you may be wondering – will it remove the goodness from the mask that I've applied. The short answer: no. The skincare goodness of the mask should have already penetrated into your skin, and what you're removing are the excess product that isn't absorbed.
3. I use makeup wipes to refresh my skin
Now that I'm home more, I try not to switch on the air-conditioner if the weather isn't too hot – it's better for my pockets and even better for the environment. And on warmer days, I tend to only switch it on in the afternoon and use a fan for most part of the morning. Given Singapore's humid weather, this means that I tend to see some grease and shine on my face by lunch-time.
Instead of washing with water, which can help refresh my skin but not remove grime and grease, I use a makeup wipe to gently freshen up my skin. I find that they're perfect for a mid-day perk-me-up so my skin feel comfortable and I could get on with the rest of the day.
